Governor of Bihar released Purnea University logo and website

Patna : Governor-cum-chancellor of universities Lalji Tandon released the logo and website of the newly-created Purnea University at a function held at the Raj Bahavan in Patna.

Purnea University vice chancellor (VC) Prof Rajesh Singh, principal secretary to governor Vivek Kumar Singh, additional secretary Vijay Kumar, registrar Col Pramod Kumar and officer on special duty to governor Sanjay Choudhary were also present on the occasion.

The VC said the logo contains inherent culture of Purnea, while the website is www.purneauniversity.ac.in. “Purnea has derived its name from the leaves of a plant ‘Purain’ symbolising detachment from the material world.

Accordingly, ‘Purain’ leaves feature in the logo which also signifies the struggle of man in quest of true knowledge and understanding of the self as well. While the university motto has been derived from the Upanishad signifying a force and knowledge which truly liberates an individual,” he said.

The VC said the university has already got recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC). “The university which held its academic council and syndicate meetings recently, has worked out a comprehensive plan to maintain academic ambience on the university and college campuses. It has been decided to introduce more than 100 new courses from the next academic session to help students to eke out a livelihood on their own after completion of education from both regular and vocational courses,” Prof Singh said, adding, “A viable placement cell is also being set up at the university headquarters to meet the requirements of the students.”
