Enrollment is open for admissions in model schools in Jharkhand

Ranchi: To ensure maximum enrollment in the model schools across the district, the district education officer has instructed the block education officer to involve teachers in making Class V pupils in their region aware of model schools and fill out enrollment forms for the new academic session.

The model schools are English-medium schools intended to offer talented rural students quality education. Interested students of Class VI or those who have completed Class V from any school in the district can register for enrollment exams.

The district unit of the school education and literacy department has asked that each of the 1,256 primary schools in the district select at least five to 10 meritorious candidates and urge them to fill out the model school application forms for their respective blocks.

These schools are located in eight different blocks throughout the district, including Bero, Burmu, Kanke, Angara, Namkum, Mandar, Chanho, and Lampung. Each school has a seat for 40 students in Class VI and the students are admitted based on an exam conducted by Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC).

The initiative has been taken to increase enrollment in the model schools in the upcoming academic session. Principal of Model School Lapung, Alok Datta said, “In the last five years, model school seats have remained vacant. To ensure that the majority of pupils fill out the application for model schools and receive a quality education, the education department has requested that the administrators and teachers of each primary school select at least five students to fill out the form so that there are no empty seats and the meritorious students receive a better education.”

Ravindra Prasad, block education officer, Burmu said, “The education department has asked us to prepare at least 5 to 10 Class V students from each school in the block to fill out the application form for enrollment in the English-medium model schools.”
