School students will now stay informed, JCERT to start news reading sessions

The school education and literacy department along with the Jharkhand Council of Educational Research and Training (JCERT) has directed the government schools in the state to conduct news reading sessions and quizzes compulsorily. The decision has been taken to keep the students abreast with the updated knowledge of current affairs.

“Students should be aware of current affairs. As all the schools do not hold morning assembly news sessions, a Whatsapp group has been created to relay the news to all the schools. It would now be mandatory for all the schools to hold a news reading session,” an official from JCERT said.

The principal would be required to be present in the school an hour before the morning prayers commence. A five-member panel has been constituted to administer the initiative.
