LIC launched Vidyadhan Scholarships for underprivileged students

LIC HFL Vidyadhan Scholarship is a CSR initiative of LIC Housing Finance Limited (LIC-HFL) to support the education of underprivileged students in India. The scholarship programme aims to empower lower-income group students who are pursuing studies at various levels – starting from Class 8 to post-graduation. Under this scholarship programme, students will receive financial assistance up to INR 30,000, depending on their level of study.

LIC Housing Finance Limited (LIC HFL) is an organisation promoted by Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) India. The organisation has been running various social welfare programmes which also includes education-related initiatives.

Eligibility for  Class 8 – 10 students 

  • Open for students enrolled in Class 8, 9, or 10 at any recognized institution in India.
  • Applicants must have scored at least 65% marks in their respective previous class.
  • Family income of applicant must be less than INR 3,00,000 (3 lakhs) per annum.
  • Preference will be given to applicants from low income groups or students in crisis (orphans, differently-abled, critically ill children etc.)
  • Stipend: INR 10,000

Eligibility for Class 10 passed students

  • Open for students enrolled in Class 11/12 or under ITI/Diploma/Polytechnic programmes at any recognised institution in India.
  • Applicants must have scored at least 65% marks in their respective Class 10 board examination.
  • Family income of applicant must be less than INR 3,00,000 (3 lakhs) per annum.
  • Preference will be given to applicants from low income groups or students in crisis (orphans, differently-abled, critically ill children etc.)
  • Stipend: INR 15,000

  • Open for students enrolled in graduation / UG programmes at any recognized college / university / institution in India.
  • Students in final year of their graduation programme are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must have scored at least 65% marks in Class 12 board examination.
  • Family income of applicant must be less than INR 3,00,000 (3 lakhs) per annum.
  • Preference will be given to applicants from low income groups or students in crisis (orphans, differently-abled, critically ill children etc.)
  • Scholarship Amount: INR 20,000

Eligibility for Post-graduation Students

  • Open for students enrolled in post-graduation / PG programmes at any recognised college / university / institution in India.
  • Students in final year of their post-graduation programme are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must have scored at least 65% marks in their respective UG level programme.
  • Family income of applicant must be less than INR 3,00,000 (3 lakhs) per annum.
  • Preference will be given to applicants from low income groups or students in crisis (orphans, differently-abled, critically ill children etc.)
  • Scholarship Amount: INR 30,000

Application Process:

  • Read the eligibility criteria and choose the scholarship category as mentioned above
  • Click on ‘Apply Now’ button
  • Login to Buddy4Study using your existing ID and password and land onto the ‘Scholarship Application Page’
    • If not registered on Buddy4Study – Sign up at Buddy4Study with your E-mail/Facebook/Gmail account
  • Click on ‘Start Application’
  • Fill the scholarship application form
  • Upload the required documents alongwith the online application form
  • Click on ‘Submit’ button to complete the application process.

Important Documents required:

  • Photo identity proof (Aadhaar Card / PAN Card / Passport)
  • Income proof (Form 16A/income certificate from government authority/salary slips, etc.)
  • Proof of admission (school/college/university ID card/bonafide certificate/etc.)
  • Current academic year fee receipt
  • Bank account details of the scholarship applicant (cancelled cheque/passbook copy).

Method of Selection:

Selection Process: The selection of scholars for LIC HFL Vidhyadhan Scholarship involves a multi-stage process. The scholars will be selected after a thorough assessment of merit and financial needs of all the applicants. The key steps of the selection process are mentioned below:

  • Screening of scholarship applications based on merit and financial need.
  • Telephonic interviews for further shortlisting of candidates.
  • Face-to-face interview for final selection (if required).

Selection Criteria: Scholars for LIC HFL Vidhyadhan Scholarship will be selected on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Merit of the applicant: 65% marks or above in previous exam
  • Financial Need: Students from lower income group families will be preferred [Annual income below INR 3,00,000 (3 Lakhs)]
  • Crisis situation: Students supported by single parent, orphans, students with critically/terminally parents, students from families with job-loss of earning member in last 12 months.
